무더위가 한풀 꺾이고 하늘이 청량한 날에 들려온 좋은 소식을 회원님들과 함께 나누고자 합니다. 2017년 시행된 한국연구재단 학술지 평가에서 아동학회지(Korean Journal of Child Studies)가 우수 등재 학술지로 선정되었습니다.

올해 평가에서는 등재 및 등재 후보 학술지 2,377종 중에서 34종이 우수 등재 학술지로 선정되었으며 이는 학문 분야별 상위 10% 이내의 학술지 중에서 논문의 질, 학계 내 평판도, 인용 지수 등을 고려하여 최종 선정된 것이라고 합니다.

지난 1980년 1호를 발간한 이래로 아동학회지는 아동학 분야의 대표 학술지로 자리잡아 왔습니다. 또한 2016년부터 학술지의 국제화와 디지털화라는 사회적 요구에 따라 수준 높은 출판 및 온라인 운영 시스템을 새로 구축하고 학술지 디자인을 개정하였으며, 해외 학술데이터베이스 색인을 위해 영문사독을 강화하였습니다.

이번 평가에서 아동학회지가 논문의 학술적 영향력, 논문집 체계의 가독성과 정확성, 논문심사제도 운영과 연구윤리 활동의 엄정성, 편집위원회의 전문성과 우수성, 국제화 노력과 다학제적 학술 교류 등 모든 영역에서 우수한 평가를 받은 것은 지난 수십 년 간 학술지를 위해 애써주신 많은 분들의 헌신과 노력의 결과라고 생각합니다.

특히, 여러 가지 어려움을 개의치 않으시고 학술지의 질적 개선과 국제화에 뜻을 하나로 모아 전폭적인 지원을 해주신 회장님과 이사님들, 최선을 다해 심사에 참여해주신 심사위원님들, 학술활동에 참여하고 관심을 보여주신 모든 아동학회 회원님들께 편집위원회를 대표하여 진심으로 감사드립니다.

아동학회지는 현재 아동발달, 보육, 교육, 복지, 건강, 가족, 청소년 등을 주제로 한 실증적, 이론적 논문을 게재하고 있으며 최근에는 서평, 사례연구, 논평 등을 확대하여 다양화를 꾀하고 있습니다. 투고 및 심사 과정은 모두 온라인에서 이루어지며 투고에서 게재까지 약 2개월이 소요됩니다. 또한 전문편집인, 영문전문편집인, 편집간사들이 신속한 운영과 수준 높은 출판을 위해 활약하고 있습니다. 무엇보다 이제 우수 등재 학술지로서 학술적 가치를 인정 받고 국제화를 위한 기반도 갖춘 만큼 앞으로 해외 우수 학술지들과 어깨를 나란히 할 학술지로 도약할 수 있으리라 기대합니다.

아동학회지의 발전을 위해 앞으로도 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다. 편집위원회는 질 높고 신뢰로운 논문의 출간과 학술 교류의 확대를 위해 계속 노력하겠습니다. 감사합니다.

I would like to share with you some good news I received on a day that was cool and clear and when the summer heat had let up. The Korean Journal of Child Studies (KJCS) was selected as an outstanding journal by the National Research Foundation of Korea in their 2017 academic journal evaluation. Only 34 of the 2,377 nominated journals were selected as such; they were selected as being among the top 10% of journals based on the quality of articles, academic reputation, and citation indexing in each academic discipline.

Since its first publication in 1980, KJCS has become a leading journal in the field of child studies. In addition, since 2016, in accordance with the social demands of the globalization and digitalization of academic journals, KJCS has built high-quality publishing systems, established an online submission and review portal, redesigned its format, and strengthened its English-translated elements for academic database indexing.

Many scholars and members have made great efforts to the development of KJCS since its inception. I believe that their shared dedication has led KJCS to receive an excellent evaluation in every category: academic impact, readability and accuracy, management of the peer-review system and adherence to research ethics, professionalism and excellence among the editorial committee, and efforts toward globalization and multidisciplinary academic exchanges.

On behalf of the editorial committee, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the president and board members of the Korean Association of Child Studies, who have offered their full support to improve the quality of KJCS and expand its international reach. I would also like to thank the reviewers and all members of KJCS who have engaged in academic activities.

KJCS publishes empirical and theoretical papers on child development, childcare and education, welfare, families, health, policy, and youth. Other published articles include book reviews, case studies, and commentaries. The online submission and review process takes approximately two months from submission to publication. The manuscript editor, English editor, and editorial assistant work to ensure a swift, high-quality publication process. Now that KJCS has been recognized as an outstanding journal in the academic society of Korea, we hope to leap forward to an internationally renowned level.

I look forward to your continued interest and participation in the development of KJCS. The editorial committee will continue to strive to present high-quality and reliable research findings and to expand academic exchange. Thank you.
